Welcome to my humble entry, everyone! Today I'll be sharing tips and tricks about traits. Namely:

  • How to awaken a chibi of your choice
  • How to obtain an awakened chibi with skill level of 5
  • The different ways to acquire traits

  • Perhaps you've wondered why you're not awakening a desired chibi. Perhaps you've wondered why a particular chibi has a skill level (slv) of 3 instead of 5. Perhaps you've wondered why an incompatible trait appeared despite not including any cards with it.

And perhaps, this entry would provide a clearer understanding to all of those questions!

Disclaimer: All of the information in this entry are based on personal observations, and therefore it's about 90% accurate at best. Which is good enough for casual players. It's also written for intermediate to advance sages (rank 90+) in mind, so the explanations may be overwhelming for beginners. Read on if you're up for the challenge : D

How to awaken a chibi of your choice

The bare minimum in awakening a chibi of your choice is acquiring 2 of the required traits!

Credits go to Mahoyaku-eng for providing an extensive, comprehensive guide. Thank you so much ♡

As you can see, there are two sections in the recipe; required traits and incompatible traits.

    Required Traits
Required traits are needed to awaken that particular chibi recipe. We need at least 2 of those to awaken/create that particular chibi! However, having 2 would only give you a small chance of awakening it. It's kind of risky. Increase the chances of awakening it by getting more of the required traits! Higher levelled traits (gold bordered) significantly increase your chances of awakening that chibi too. Go get that gold trait if you can! If you can't, then a silver and bronze will do.

PS: a chibi with only 2 required traits will only have a max slv of 3. Just saying.

    Incompatible Traits
Also called, "rejection traits". These are the traits that will decrease your skill level. Acquiring one of these, especially the silver and gold traits, will generally decrease your max skill level to 4. Do not get these if you want to make a slv 5 chibi.

However, the effect of an incompatible trait can be negated by acquiring an additional silver or gold trait. Not all hope is lost! Get more traits if you've accidentally acquired one of these.

    Event/Unique Chibi Traits

    Unique chibi recipe sample

The primary traits for event/unique chibis are a bit different to a regular one. See those pink traits? Those are unique traits, locked to each event/special chibis. Getting those pink traits will significantly raise the probability by a lot. A L O T. Include cards with those traits if you want to make the corresponding chibi! Buuut if we're talking about the bare minimum, then those aren't really necessary. You'll find yourself accidentally awakening unique chibis every now and then.

How to obtain an awakened chibi with skill level 5

The short answer is: get 3 of the required traits without getting an incompatible trait.

Any combination of three traits work

Yes, really! I've tried a combination of gold/silver/bronze, silver/silver/bronze, silver/bronze/normal, etc. Acquiring any 3 required traits without getting an incompatible trait will yield you a slv5 chibi. The higher the rarity, the better! The sweet spot is gold/silver/bronze but silver/silver/bronze works too.

Slv5 unique chibis need the corresponding event traits

Unique chibis have another requirement: the event traits! Acquiring the gold event trait will increase the max skill level to 5 immediately. Supplement your chibi by getting the bronze event trait and voila, easy slv 5 chibi! However, in the event that you are not able to get the gold event trait, it is still possible to get the slv to 5 by acquiring the bronze event + 3 other traits.

    tldr:
  • Get 3 required traits to awaken a slv 5 chibi.
  • Get the gold-bordered event trait to awaken a slv 5 unique chibi.
  • Do not get any incompatible traits because those will decrease the max slv.
  • In the event that you can't avoid getting an incompatible trait, obtain one more silver trait to negate the effect.

The different ways to acquire traits

There are three main ways to acquire traits during interactions/training. Those are:
    1. Great Successes
    2. Partners' trait pool
    3. Sub-stories.

    1. Great Successes (Daiseikou)
Yes, you can get traits from daiseikous! Activating daiseikou do two things: it doubles the parameter gain and drops a random trait. If you've accidentally acquired an incompatible trait or two, then it's probably from activating the great successes. No worries, it happens to everyone at one point of their chibi-making ventures...

The traits that you get are locked to each locations too. Please refer to this post for a list of traits from each location. (Warning: that site has ecchi advertisements, so make sure nobody's around you when opening it)

Fun fact: we get added parameter bonus for acquiring the same trait! For example, you've acquired the gold "natural" [自然] trait once. Acquiring it again (usually through daiseikou) will give the wizard +60 relax parameter. The attribute given also corresponds to the colour. Red gives passion, blue gives cool, so on so forth.

However, in the case of unique traits, the attribute gained will correspond to the attribute of the card instead. For example, let's say [The Banquet's Last Moments With You] Figaro dropped the "ephemeral" trait a second time. The card's attribute is happy, so it'll add a happy +60 bonus! If the same trait was dropped by [The Wise Man's Smile] Murr, then the added attribute would be cool +60! Neat, huh?

Gold traits give +60 parameter bonus, silver gives +40, bronze gives +30 and lv 1 gives +20.

"Wait, a card can drop the same traits twice?"

Not under normal circumstances, no. It can only be done at Cavern of Time -- it's the area's special gimmick! Knowing the added value, manipulating the RNG, timing the gimmick's activation and so forth is the key to awakening an all-999 chibi there.

Tip: If an area had an unwanted trait in its daiseikou pool, you can also... try not to activate it instead. LOL. Choose your traits smartly!

    2. Partners' Trait Pool
Everyone knows about this, right? Yes, there's a slim chance for your cards to drop their traits while interacting/training with them. Make them participate frequently so they drop their traits! You can also use Fairy Wings for this. It'll come in handy when you want to get a high score!

Alternatively, you can also avoid making the cards participate in case you need their skills but not traits. It can go either way.

    3. Sub-stories
We can get traits from sub-stories as well! I'll divide this further into three points:

    Character Episode
We can get traits from character episodes! The rarity varies and it's locked to the respective episodes. If you get lucky and generated the right episode, you can even get a gold trait! For example, generating Figaro's "A Long Companionship" [長い付き合い] episode will give you 2 options. Choosing the first option will give you the gold relax trait, "lucky" [幸運] while the second one will give you a gold passion trait, "brave" [勇気]. Pick which one you need and acquire smartly!

The meticulous sages can refer to this site for a full list of everyone's character episodes ♪ It'll come in handy when you want to achieve high scores.

    Card Episode
We can get traits from card episodes! SR event cards drop the associated bronze/silver trait, while event SSRs drop the gold trait. You can increase the chances of generating a card episode by using Wizard's Bell, or including cards which boost episode appearance rate. I generally don't use either and leave it up to fate

Utilize this knowledge to help you in making your desired chibi!

    Spot Sub-Episode (Location Sub-episode)
All locations have their own spot sub-epi! Like character episodes, you may get lucky and acquire gold traits from here. I know Swamp of Pestilence drops the gold "noble" [高貴] if you generate "Impressions of Figaro" (2) [フィガロへの印象(2)] from there. Again, you can refer to this site for a full list of spot sub-epi and their corresponding traits ♪

    Spot Episode (Location Episode)
Matters very little. You can get a lv1 trait at the end of episode 6, but the effect is almost non-existent. There's no need to bother with this.

    Conclusion

    Aaand we've reached the end of this entry. Phew, that's a lot of info! Here's a summary;

  • How to awaken a chibi of your choice
Get the required traits. 2 works, but preferably 3 or more for good measure.

  • How to obtain a chibi with skill level 5
Get three required traits for normal chibis, preferably gold/silver/bronze. Get the gold event traits for unique chibis. Don't get any incompatible traits!

  • What happens when I get an incompatible trait?
The slv will be lowered to 4. Get another silver or gold trait to negate this effect.

  • The different ways to acquire traits
    1) Daiseikou
    2) Cards trait pool
    3) Character, card and location sub-episodes

That is all. With this knowledge, you should be able to create any chibis you want! I hope that was useful for you & good luck with your chibi-making ventures ♥
